Graphic from Sky and Telescope magazine showing the Moon on October 1 and 2 towards the eastern horizonLet the Moon be your guide this month to finding a few celestial treats.

Look to the east tonight to spot bright Jupiter to the right of the Moon. Tomorrow, the Pleiades cluster will be to its left.

Notice how far the Moon shifts from one night to the next? This happens because the Moon rises approximately 50 minutes later each day. Keep watching throughout the month to see a full lunar cycle.
