Watchers of the Ancient Skies beautifully and dramatically presents ancient Lakota star traditions with live narration by Lakota storytellers Gracie Redshirt Tyon and Larry Swalley. The enchanting live music of Lakota flute and vocal artist Calvin Standing Bear accompanies the program. The Lakota singers of Plenty Wolf Drum will sing and drum as they represent the heartbeat of Grandmother Earth.

Watchers of the Ancient Skies is a truly fascinating story of how an ancient people used their knowledge of the stars and the earth to harmonize their lifeways with the known universe. These traditions are estimated to be 3,000 years old. What we know from oral history is that sometime in the deep past, the ancestors of modern-day Lakota people combined their understanding of the stars, the sun, and the moon with their vast knowledge of the earth to create defining traditions, customs, journeys, and ceremonies.
